Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Fine Arts Studies

For students attending classes at Central Arizona College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 72 units of community college credit may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The University of Arizona 1995-97 General Catalog or contact the assistant dean for the College of Fine Arts (621-1301) for additional information.

GENERAL EDUCATION SKILLS AND PROFICIENCIES

ENGLISH--6 units

MATHEMATICS--3 units

College algebra is the minimum mathematics requirement. One of the following higher level mathematics courses may be substituted:

ORAL COMMUNICATION--3 units

GENERAL EDUCATION STUDY AREAS

LITERATURE, SECOND LANGUAGE--12 units from two areas

SCIENCE--3 units (with or without laboratory)

INDIVIDUALS, SOCIETIES AND INSTITUTIONS--6 units

NON-WESTERN AND MINORITY STUDIES--3 units

ENGLISH--3 units

FINE ARTS EMPHASIS COURSE WORK--72 units
A candidate for this degree also must complete a minimum of 24 units of fine arts course work in each of three departments selected from the College of Fine Arts: Art, Dance, Media Arts*, Music and Theatre Arts.

With advisor approval, a department outside of Fine Arts may be used for a maximum of 24 units. At least 36 units must be upper-division courses. A minimum of 24 units must be taken in residence.

* Students must meet Media Arts advanced standing requirements.
