Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Theatre Education

For students attending classes at Coconino College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 72 units of community college credit may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The University of Arizona 1995-97 General Catalog or contact the assistant dean for the College of Fine Arts (621-1301) for additional information.

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS

THEATRE ARTS--3 units

• THR 135 - as an elective

A minimum of 18 units of drama courses must be completed in residence at The University of Arizona for this major.

GENERAL EDUCATION SKILLS AND PROFICIENCIES

• ENG 101, 102

MATHEMATICS--3 units

• MAT 151

College algebra is the minimum mathematics requirement. One of the following higher level mathematics courses may be substituted:

• MAT 172, 184, 187, 220, 230

ORAL COMMUNICATION

Complete this requirement after transfer to the UA.

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION
Consult a theatre arts education advisor at The University of Arizona for assistance in selecting the required course work. Students pursuing a major in theatre arts education must meet the following special requirements before being admitted to the Teacher Education Program:

1. Completion of 56 units of credit applicable to a baccalaureate degree.
2. Cumulative grade-point average of 2.50 (4.0 scale) or higher on the most current 56 units of college course work.
3. Completion of the theatre arts core curriculum.
4. A personal interview.

As part of the teacher certification process, the State of Arizona requires all teachers to:

1. Satisfactorily complete the Arizona examination on the United States and Arizona constitutions;
   or
2. Satisfactorily complete course work (POS 221 and POS 222) on the United States and Arizona constitutions.
