Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Media Arts

For students attending classes at Eastern Arizona College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 72 units of community college credit may be applied to a bachelor's degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The University of Arizona 1995-97 General Catalog or contact the Department of Media Arts (621-7352) for additional information.
The Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Media Arts is a limited enrollment, competitive admission degree program. Only 25 students per year will be admitted to the program. Portfolio review is held in the spring for admission in the following fall. Community college students who want to graduate with this degree are advised to transfer to The University of Arizona at the beginning of their sophomore year so they may: (1) take the 17 units of Media Arts core courses that are not offered at any Arizona community college and are required for upper-division standing (explained below); (2) take Media Arts 297a, BFA Portfolio, (1 unit), which is required as part of the application process for admission to the BFA degree.
All students, including transfer students, are required to have Advanced Standing for enrollment in all 300-400 level Department of Media Arts courses. Requirements for students to be admitted to Advanced Standing in M AR at The University of Arizona are:
Transfer students who would otherwise qualify for Media Arts Advanced Standing except that they do not meet the requirement of having taken a minimum of 12 regularly graded units at The University of Arizona will be given provisional permission to enroll in upper-division media arts courses until they have completed this minimum. Thereafter, they must meet all of the regular provisions of the media arts Advanced Standing policy.
MAJOR REQUIREMENTS
Equivalent courses are not available at Eastern Arizona College. Students should complete requirements in the general education skills and proficiencies, and study areas to best prepare for transfer and progress toward this degree.
