Bachelor of Science with a major in Astronomy

For students attending classes at Mohave Community College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 72 units of community college credit may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The University of Arizona 1995-97 General Catalog or contact the Office of Academic Services (621-3336) for additional information.

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS

Thirty units of astronomy course work, of which 20 units must be upper-division, are required for this major. ASTR 300a-300b and 400a-400b are required courses not available at Mohave Community College which must be completed after transfer.

MATHEMATICS--3 units
This requirement may be fulfilled by completing the mathematics course work listed under the major requirements.

SECOND LANGUAGE--16 units
This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the fourth semester level. Refer to Credit by Examination in The University of Arizona 1995-97 General Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Course work available at Mohave Community College includes the following:

Note: If students select French or Latin, the intermediate level of study may be completed upon transfer to The University of Arizona.
