Bachelor of Arts with a major in Journalism
For students attending classes at Navajo Community College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 72 units of community college credit may be applied to a bachelors degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The University of Arizona 1995-97 General Catalog or contact the Office of Academic Services (621-3336) for additional information.
MAJOR REQUIREMENTS
A maximum of 35 units of journalism course work may be applied to the 125 units required for graduation.
Equivalent courses are not available at Navajo Community College for the major in Journalism. Students should complete requirements in the general education skills and proficiencies, and study areas to best prepare for transfer and progress toward this degree.

College algebra is the minimum mathematics requirement. One of the following higher level mathematics courses may be substituted:

SECOND LANGUAGE--16 units
This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the fourth semester level. Refer to Credit by Examination in The University of Arizona 1995-97 General Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Completion of one of the following options at Navajo Community College will fulfill this requirement.
- Option 1 -- NAV 101, 102, 201, 202
- Option 2 -- NAV 211, 212

This requirement is to be satisfied by completing courses which include laboratory work. Students are strongly encouraged to take either courses in the biological sciences or courses in the physical sciences when completing this requirement.
