Bachelor of Science in Family and Consumer Resources with a major in Family and Consumer Sciences Education

For students attending classes at Northland Pioneer College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. The School of Family and Consumer Resources offers undergraduate majors in family studies, family and consumer sciences education and retailing and consumer studies. A maximum of 72 units of community college credit may be applied toward a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. MAJOR REQUIREMENTS

COMMUNICATION--6 units

COMPUTER SKILLS--3 units

ENGLISH--6 units

MATHEMATICS--3 units

GENERAL EDUCATION STUDY AREAS
Select course work from five of the six study areas listed. When courses are identified under a study area as required by the major, students must then complete that study area as one of the five areas. A minimum of 32 units is required in the five study areas selected.

1. WESTERN CIVILIZATION--6-9 units

2. BIOLOGICAL AND LIFE SCIENCES--8 units, one lab required

3. PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES--8 units

* This sequence is required for the major in Family and Consumer Sciences Education.

4. INDIVIDUALS, SOCIETIES AND INSTITUTIONS--6-9 units

* These courses are required for the major in Family and Consumer Sciences Education.

5. NON-WESTERN CIVILIZATIONS--3 units
