Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Theatre Production
(Options available in Design/Technical Production or Acting)

For students attending classes at Pima Community College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. Refer to The University of Arizona 1995-97 General Catalog or contact the assistant dean for the College of Fine Arts (621-1301) for additional information.

Please note: A transfer guide may list more than 72 units of course work. A maximum of 72 units of community college credit may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Consult your advisor regarding course selection.

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS

THEATRE ARTS--38 units

* These courses are not required for students majoring in theatre production with a Design/Technical option. Portfolio is required for admission.

+ These courses are not required for students majoring in theatre production with an acting option. Audition is required for entrance into the acting option.

GENERAL EDUCATION SKILLS AND PROFICIENCIES

ENGLISH--6 units

MATHEMATICS--3 units

ORAL COMMUNICATION--3 units

GENERAL EDUCATION STUDY AREAS
A course may not be used to fulfill requirements in more than one study area.

WESTERN CIVILIZATION--6 units

SCIENCE--3 units (with or without laboratory)

INDIVIDUALS, SOCIETIES AND INSTITUTIONS--9 units

NON-WESTERN AND MINORITY STUDIES--3 units

ARTS--6 units (other than theatre arts); only three units of performance or production course work may be applied to this requirement.

THEATRE ARTS DEPARTMENT GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
The following courses may be completed at Pima Community College for application to this requirement.

PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO COMPLETE HDE 105, "TRANSFER STRATEGIES!" This course offers UA campus visits; meetings with UA staff members who represent the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, The Center for Transfer Students and other University resources; and consultation for evaluating transfer timing. While this course is nontransferable, it does contribute to the grade point average for admission to the University. See a P.C.C. counselor/advisor about enrolling in HDE 105.
