Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Media Arts

For students attending classes at Pima Community College and preparing to transfer to the University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 72 units of community college credit may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The University of Arizona 1995-97 General Catalog or contact the Department of Media Arts (621-7352) for additional information.

Transfer students will be required to have advanced standing for enrollment in all 300- or 400- level courses in the Department of Media Arts. Requirements for transfer students are:

  1. Credit for a minimum of 56 units.
  2. A minimum GPA of 2.50 based on completion of at least 12 units at UA.
  3. Completion of Media Arts core courses (M AR 200, 201a, 201b, 202 and 210).
  4. Completion of the general education (Booklink-approved) course requirements.

MEDIA ARTS--12 units

GENERAL EDUCATION SKILLS AND PROFICIENCIES

ENGLISH--6 units

MATHEMATICS--3 units

TRADITIONS AND CULTURES--9 units total from List 1 and List 2

LIST 1 (Non-Western Traditions and Cultures) - complete one course from the following options:

BIOLOGICAL AND PHYSICAL SCIENCES--8 units
This requirement is to be satisfied by completing courses which include laboratory work. Students are strongly encouraged to take either courses in the biological sciences or courses in the physical sciences when completing this requirement.

INDIVIDUALS, SOCIETIES AND INSTITUTIONS--9 units from two areas

ARTS--3 units

LITERATURE--3 units (6 units required for the speech option)

PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO COMPLETE HDE 105, "TRANSFER STRATEGIES!" This course offers UA campus visits; meetings with UA staff members who represent the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, The Center for Transfer Students and other University resources; and consultation for evaluating transfer timing. While this course is nontransferable, it does contribute to the grade point average for admission to the University. See a P.C.C. counselor/advisor about enrolling in HDE 105.
