Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Musical Theatre

For students attending classes at Coconino Community College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 72 units of community college credit may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The University of Arizona On-line Catalog or contact the College of Fine Arts (621-1301) for additional information.

An audition is required the semester prior to enrollment in the Theatre Arts department at The University of Arizona.

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS

Equivalent courses are not available at Coconino Community College for the major in Musical Theatre. Students should complete requirements in the general education skills and proficiencies, and study areas to best prepare for transfer and progress toward this degree.

Musical theatre majors must complete a minimum of eight units of course work in private voice instruction. In addition, course work in conducted ensembles or musical productions is required.

ENGLISH--6 units

MATHEMATICS--3 units

College algebra is the minimum mathematics requirement. One of the following higher level mathematics courses may be substituted:

A course may not be used to fulfill requirements in more than one study area.

WESTERN CIVILIZATION--6 units

SCIENCE--3 units (with or without laboratory)

INDIVIDUALS, SOCIETIES AND INSTITUTIONS--6 units

NON-WESTERN AND MINORITY STUDIES--3 units

ARTS--3 units

GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS OUTSIDE THE MAJOR DEPARTMENT--13 units
