Bachelor of Science in Education with a major in Physical Education
For students attending classes at Eastern Arizona College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 72 units of community college credit may be applied to a bachelors degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The University of Arizona General Catalog or contact the Physical Education Advising Office in McKale 228 for additional information (621-6993).
Formal admission to the College of Education is required of all undergraduate students who wish to pursue a major or earn a teaching certificate in the College of Education. Admission to the College of Education is competitive. The deadlines for admission are the second Friday in September for any Spring term and the second Friday in February for any Fall term. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
Fifty-six units of credit applicable to a baccalaureate degree completed by beginning of professional program (junior year).
Cumulative grade-point average of 2.50 (4.0 scale) or higher on the most current 56 credits of college course work.
Basic skills testing (formerly the PPST) has been suspended since spring 1994; however, for future admissions, the faculty in the College of Education are looking at various forms of basic skills assessment.
Students who are judged eligible for admission are evaluated by additional criteria. Those individuals who wish to pursue a bachelors degree in physical education should contact the Physical Education Program, McKale 228. Students are strongly encouraged to contact the physical education advisors early in their academic programs for more details concerning admission criteria.

Eight units of professional activity courses are required for this major. Professional activity courses are designed to develop knowledge and skills competencies necessary for teaching each activity, with emphasis on skills progression, practice opportunities, and error diagnosis and correction. Regular activity courses generally do not apply to this requirement unless validated by a proficiency examination at the time of transfer.
