Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Theatre Production
Options available in Design/Technical Production or Acting/Directing

For students attending classes at the Maricopa County Community Colleges and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 72 units of community college credit may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The University of Arizona On-line Catalog or contact the College of Fine Arts (621-1301) for additional information.

Admission into advanced theatre arts courses at The University of Arizona is by interview and audition or portfolio review upon completion of all required lower division theatre arts courses.

THEATRE ARTS--21 units

• THP 112, 115, 201, 212, 213 and 216 - for design/technical production

GENERAL EDUCATION SKILLS AND PROFICIENCIES

ENGLISH--6 units

• ENG 101 or 107
• ENG 102 or 108

MATHEMATICS--3 units

• MAT 150 or 151 or 152

College algebra is the minimum mathematics requirement. One of the following higher level mathematics courses may be substituted:

• MAT 172, 182, 187, 212, 220, 221, 225, 227, 230, 231, 241

ORAL COMMUNICATION--3 units

• COM 125, 222, 225, 241, 243, 271, 281
• THP 241, 243

GENERAL EDUCATION STUDY AREAS
A course may not be used to fulfill requirements in more than one study area.

WESTERN CIVILIZATION--6-9 units from one of the options:

THEATRE ARTS DEPARTMENT GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS--12 units
The following courses are available within the Maricopa District for application to this requirement:

• Dramatic Literature -- Complete at The University of Arizona
• Dance/Exercise Group (Acting Option only) -- Complete at The University of Arizona
• Music Group (Acting Option only) -- MUP 133 or 134 and one unit of private instruction in voice
• Non-Theatre Arts Electives (Design/Technical Option only) -- Complete six units of course work; Consult an advisor at the UA for assistance in course selection.
