Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Musical Theatre

For students attending classes at the Maricopa County Community Colleges and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 72 units of community college credit may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The University of Arizona On-line Catalog or contact the College of Fine Arts (621-1301) for additional information.

An audition is required in the semester prior to enrollment in the Theatre Arts Department at The University of Arizona.

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS

Musical theatre majors must complete a minimum of eight units of course work in private voice instruction. In addition, course work in conducted ensembles or musical productions is required.

THEATRE ARTS--24 units

GENERAL EDUCATION SKILLS AND PROFICIENCIES

ENGLISH--6 units

MATHEMATICS--3 units

College algebra is the minimum mathematics requirement. One of the following higher level mathematics courses may be substituted:

ORAL COMMUNICATION--3 units

GENERAL EDUCATION STUDY AREAS
A course may not be used to fulfill requirements in more than one study area.

WESTERN CIVILIZATION--6-9 units

SCIENCE--3 units (with or without laboratory)

INDIVIDUALS, SOCIETIES AND INSTITUTIONS--6 units

NON-WESTERN AND MINORITY STUDIES--3 units

ARTS--6 units

GENERAL EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS OUTSIDE THE MAJOR DEPARTMENT
