Bachelor of Arts with a major in East Asian Studies

For students attending classes at the Maricopa County Community Colleges and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 72 units of community college credit may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Departmental validation by placement exam is required to determine course equivalency of the language course work listed above to comparable courses at The University of Arizona.

MATHEMATICS--3 units

• MAT 150 or 151 or 152

College algebra is the minimum mathematics requirement. One of the following higher level mathematics courses may be substituted:

SECOND LANGUAGE--16 units
This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the fourth semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The University of Arizona On-line Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. This requirement may be fulfilled by satisfactory performance on the departmental placement exam after completion of the language course work listed under major requirements.
