1997-98 UA Pima Community College transfer guide

Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Studio Art
(Specialization available in 2-Dimensional, 3-Dimensional, Graphics, Illustration, Photography and New Genre)

For students attending classes at Pima Community College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. Refer to The University of Arizona On-line Catalog or contact the College of Fine Arts (621-1301) for additional information.

Please note: A transfer guide may list more than 72 units of course work. A maximum of 72 units of community college credit may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Consult your advisor regarding course selection.

A minimum of 18 units of art courses must be completed in residence at The University of Arizona, for this major. A minimum of 80 units of art course work, of which 24 units must be upper-division course work, in the art emphasis area of the major are required for this degree.

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS

Photography, graphic design and illustration majors require portfolio review and acceptance for upper-division courses by the Portfolio Committee at The University of Arizona. Contact an art faculty advisor at Pima Community College for assistance in portfolio preparation and presentation.

ENGLISH--6 units

MATHEMATICS--3 units

College algebra is the minimum mathematics requirement. One of the following higher level mathematics courses may be substituted:

ORAL COMMUNICATION--3 units

GENERAL EDUCATION STUDY AREAS
A course may not be used to fulfill requirements in more than one study area.

WESTERN CIVILIZATION--6 units

SCIENCE--3 units (with or without laboratory)

INDIVIDUALS, SOCIETIES AND INSTITUTIONS--6 units

NON-WESTERN AND MINORITY STUDIES--3 units

ARTS--6 units (other than art); only three units of performance or production course work may be applied to this requirement.

PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO COMPLETE HDE 105, "TRANSFER STRATEGIES!" This course offers UA campus visits; meetings with UA staff members who represent the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, The Center for Transfer Students and other University resources; and consultation for evaluating transfer timing. This course transfers to the UA as elective credit. See a P.C.C. counselor/advisor about enrolling in HDE 105.
