Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Theatre Arts Education

For students attending classes at Central Arizona College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The UA Desert Lynx On-line Catalog or contact the College of Fine Arts (621-1301) for additional information. SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the second semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA Desert Lynx On-line Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Course work available at Central Arizona College includes the following:

• SPA 101, 102

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS -- A minimum of 18 credits of theatre arts course work for this major must be completed in residence at The University of Arizona.

Theatre Arts--15 credits

• THE 101, 102, 103, 105, 106

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION -- Consult a theater arts education advisor at The University of Arizona for assistance in selecting the required course work. Students pursuing a major in theatre arts education must meet the following special requirements before being admitted to the Teacher Education Program:

1. Completion of 56 semester units of credit applicable to a baccalaureate degree.
2. Cumulative grade-point average of 2.50 (4.0 scale) or higher on the most current 56 credits of college course work.
3. Completion of the theatre arts core curriculum.
4. A personal interview.

As part of the teacher certification process, the State of Arizona requires all teachers to:

1. Satisfactorily complete the Arizona examination of United States and Arizona constitutions
   or
2. Satisfactorily complete course work (POS 101 and POS 103) on the United States and Arizona constitutions.
