For students attending classes at Eastern Arizona College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. Entrance examinations in musicianship and the major performance area are required. All transfer Music majors (except Piano and Organ Performance majors) must audition for placement in class or group piano instruction. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the fourth semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA Desert Lynx On-line Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Course work available at Eastern Arizona College includes the following:

  • FRE 101, 102, 201, 202
  • GER 101, 102, 201, 202
  • SPA 101, 102, 201, 202

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS -- Students entering any of the degree programs in music must, at the very minimum, have instrumental or vocal performance skills at the MUSI181 level. This level requires at least two years of intensive private instruction and/or four years of ensemble participation. Some music degrees require a higher entrance level. A student's performance level is determined by audition at the beginning of his/her first semester of enrollment.

In addition to the music courses listed below, students should complete individual instruction course work in their major instrument or voice. Course work in conducted ensembles is also required.

  • MUS 105 and 107, 106 and 108, 155 and 156*, 204, 205 and 206, 208, 255 and 256*

* These courses are not required for majors in performance with a keyboard or voice specialization.
