Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Art Education

For students attending classes at Eastern Arizona College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The UA Desert Lynx On-line Catalog or contact the College of Fine Arts (621-1301) for additional information. SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the second semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA Desert Lynx On-line Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Course work available at Eastern Arizona College includes the following:

• FRE 101, 102
• GER 101, 102
• SPA 101, 102

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS -- A minimum of 12 credits of art courses must be completed in residence at The University of Arizona for this major.

• ART 101, 102, 111, 114, 128, 133, 134, 145, 147, 151, 161, 173, 182, 216, 252

COLLEGE OF EDUCATION -- Contact a pre-education advisor (621-7865) in the College of Education at The University of Arizona for information about admission and education course work. Students pursuing a major in art education must meet the following special requirements before being admitted to the Teacher Education Program:

1. Completion of 56 units of credit applicable to a baccalaureate degree.
2. Cumulative grade-point average of 2.50 (4.0 scale) or higher on the most current 56 credits of college course work.

As part of the teacher certification process, the State of Arizona requires all teachers to:

1. Satisfactorily complete the Arizona examination on the United States and Arizona constitutions;
   or
2. Satisfactorily complete course work (POS 220 or POS 110 and POS 221) on the United States and Arizona constitutions.
