Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Fine Arts Studies

For students attending classes at Pima Community College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. Refer to The UA Desert Lynx On-line Catalog or contact the College of Fine Arts (621-1301) for additional information. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Consult your advisor regarding course selection. SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the second semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA Desert Lynx On-line Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Course work available at Pima Community College includes the following:

  • ITA 110, 111
  • JPN 110, 111
  • LAT 110, 111
  • POR 110, 111
  • RUS 110, 111
  • SLG 101, 102
  • SPA 110, 111

FINE ARTS EMPHASIS REQUIREMENTS -- A minimum of 125 credits are required for completion of this degree. At least 45 credits of the 125 must be taken from areas other than those chosen as the Fine Arts Emphasis Areas.

  1. Complete 64 credits of Fine Arts course work with at least 24 credits taken in residence at The University of Arizona.
  2. Courses are to be chosen from three of the following Fine Arts departments: Art, Dance, Media Arts*, Music and Theatre Arts. With advisor approval, a department outside of Fine Arts may be used for a maximum of 24 credits.
  3. A minimum of 24 credits must be taken in each of the three areas; 12 credits in each area must be upper-division.

* Note: Students must meet Media Arts Advanced Standing requirements.

PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO COMPLETE HDE 105, "TRANSFER STRATEGIES!" This course offers UA campus visits; meetings with UA staff members who represent the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, The Center for Transfer Students and other University resources; and consultation for evaluating transfer timing. This course transfers to the UA as elective credit. See a P.C.C. counselor/advisor about enrolling in HDE 105.
