Bachelor of Arts with a major in Economics

For students attending classes at Yavapai College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The UA Desert Lynx On-line Catalog or contact the Office of Academic Services (621-3336) for additional information. Freshman Composition--6 credits
Humanities and Fine Arts--9 credits
Biological and Physical Sciences--8 credits
Mathematics--3 credits
Social and Behavioral Sciences--9 credits

SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the fourth semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA Desert Lynx On-line Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Course work available at Yavapai College includes the following:

  • FRE 101, 102, 201, 202
  • GER 101, 102
  • ITA 101, 102
  • LAT 101, 102
  • SPA 101, 102, 201, 202

Note: If students select German, Italian, or Latin, the intermediate level of study may be completed upon transfer to The University of Arizona.

Mathematics--3 credits
  • MTH 151 or 181
 

Calculus is the prerequisite to upper-division core economics courses. Economics students are encouraged to take additional mathematics courses. Students interested in graduate study in economics should take MAT 151 and, if possible, MAT 152, 195 and 251.
