Bachelor of Arts with a major in Journalism

For students attending classes at Yavapai College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The UA Desert Lynx On-line Catalog or contact the Office of Academic Services (621-3336) for additional information. ARIZONA GENERAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM (AGEC-A)--35 credits (click here to see course lists)
Freshman Composition--6 credits
Humanities and Fine Arts--9 credits
Biological and Physical Sciences--8 credits
Mathematics--3 credits
Social and Behavioral Sciences--9 credits

SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the fourth semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA Desert Lynx On-line Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Course work available at Yavapai College includes the following:

  • FRE 101, 102, 201, 202
  • GER 101, 102
  • ITA 101, 102
  • LAT 101, 102
  • SPA 101, 102, 201, 202

Note: If students select German, Italian, or Latin, the intermediate level of study may be completed upon transfer to The University of Arizona.

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS -- A maximum of 35 credits of journalism course work may be applied to the 125 units of credit hours required for graduation.
