Please see the Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts.

For students attending classes at Yavapai College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. The Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Media Arts is a limited enrollment, competitive admission degree program. Portfolio review for current UA students is held in the spring for admission in the following fall. A fall portfolio review for new students requires 1) completion of all general education requirements, 2) completion of the Media Arts core course work or their equivalents, 3) a portfolio of creative work, and 4) a minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average from the student's last institution. Contact the Department for details about the BFA portfolio process.

All students, including transfer students, are required to have Advanced Standing for enrollment in all 300- or 400-level Department of Media Arts courses. Requirements for students to be admitted to Advanced Standing in M AR at The University of Arizona are:

  1. Completion of at least 56 credits.
  2. A minimum overall GPA of 2.50 based on completion of at least 12 credits at The University of Arizona.
  3. Completion of M AR core courses [200, 201, 203, and 210].

Where applicable, general education courses are to be Booklink-approved.

Transfer students who would otherwise qualify for Media Arts Advanced Standing except that they do not meet the requirement of having taken a minimum of 12 regularly graded credits at The University of Arizona will be given provisional permission to enroll in upper-division Media Arts courses until they have completed this minimum. Thereafter, they must meet all of the regular provisions of the Media Arts Advanced Standing Policy.
