For students attending classes at Pima Community College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. Refer to The UA General Catalog or contact the Office of Academic Services (621-3336) for additional information. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may be applied to a bachelors degree program at The University of Arizona. Consult your advisor regarding course selection. SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the fourth semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA General Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Note: If students select Latin, the intermediate level of study may be completed upon transfer to The University of Arizona. MAJOR REQUIREMENTS Economics -- Select and complete one of the economics options listed below; while both options are acceptable, the Department of Economics recommends Option 1.
* Common courses Economics majors must complete at least one semester of calculus. Since several of the required core economic courses at The University of Arizona have a calculus prerequisite, students are encouraged to take calculus very early in their academic career. Additional courses in mathematics are strongly recommended. PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO COMPLETE HDE 105, "TRANSFER STRATEGIES!" This course offers UA campus visits; meetings with UA staff members who represent the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, The Center for Transfer Students and other University resources; and consultation for evaluating transfer timing.
