| For students attending classes at Cochise College and
preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is
recommended. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may
be applied to a bachelors degree program at The University of Arizona.

Office of Student Services in
the College of Education (Education Bldg., Rm.
247) for additional information (621-7865) for any teaching major or minor
not available at the UA South campus. The pre-education advisor at The University of Arizona
South Campus can be contacted at 1140 N. Colombo, Sierra Vista, (458-8278). If you will not be
completing this transfer guide, see the "Acceptance of Transfer Course
Work to meet UA General Education Requirements." Students interested in teaching at the secondary school level will select a subject area teaching major and, in most cases, a teaching minor. The BS Ed. degree is granted in mathematics and science majors. The BA Ed. degree is granted to other approved teaching majors. For a list of approved teaching majors and minors see below. In addition to an advisor in the College of Education, secondary students should also consult with a faculty advisor in the academic subject matter department(s) in which they plan to teach. For a list of faculty advisors, contact the advisors at UA South Campus or the Office of Student Services in Tucson. Teaching majors and minors, including course requirements, are also listed on the Internet (see "Academic Program Requirements"). A limited number of lower-division course work for the teaching major/minor may be taken at the community college. Formal admission to the College of Education is required of all undergraduate students who wish to pursue a major or earn a teaching certificate in the College of Education. Admission to the College of Education is competitive. The deadline for admission to the UA South is June 1st for any Fall; the deadlines for the UA at Tucson are the second Friday in September for any Spring term and the second Friday in February for any Fall term. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the fourth semester level for the BA, at the second semester level for the BS. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA General Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Course work available at Cochise College includes the following:
