Bachelor of Arts with a major in English

For students attending classes at Northland Pioneer College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The UA General Catalog or contact the Office of Academic Services (621-3336) for additional information. SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the fourth semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA General Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Course work available at Northland Pioneer College includes the following:

• FRE 101, 102
• GER 101, 102
• LAN 201, 202
• SPA 101, 102, 201, 202

Note: If students select French, German or Navajo, the intermediate level of study may be completed upon transfer to The University of Arizona.

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS -- Equivalent major courses are not available at Arizona Western College for the major in English. Students must complete 36 credits of upper-division (junior-senior level) course work in English and American literature after transfer to The University of Arizona. In preparation for transfer, students should complete requirements in the Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC-A). A course in ancient humanities is recommended.
