Bachelor of Fine Arts with a major in Dance

For students attending classes at Pima Community College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. Refer to The UA General Catalog or contact the College of Fine Arts (621-1301) for additional information.  A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona.   Consult your advisor regarding course selection. Freshman Composition--6 credits
Humanities and Fine Arts--6-9 credits
Biological and Physical Sciences--8 credits
Mathematics--3 credits
Social and Behavioral Sciences--6-9 credits
Other Requirement Options--0-6 credits

SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the second semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA General Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Course work available at Pima Community College includes the following:

  • FRE 101, 102
  • GER 101, 102
  • ITA 101, 102
  • JPN 101, 102
  • LAT 110, 111
  • RUS 101, 102
  • SLG 101, 102
  • SPA 101, 102

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS -- Equivalent courses are not available at Pima Community College for the major in Dance. Students should complete requirements in the Arizona General Education Curriculum (AGEC-A) to best prepare for transfer and progress toward this degree.

A minimum of 42 credits of dance courses must be completed in residence at The University of Arizona for this major. Dance majors must audition for acceptance in the program and placement in dance technique courses.

Music--6 credits

  • MUS 125, 127, 151 (any two courses)

Theatre Arts--3 credits

  • THE 220 and 221 (taken concurrently)

PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO COMPLETE HDE 105, "TRANSFER STRATEGIES!" This course offers UA campus visits; meetings with UA staff members who represent the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, The Center for Transfer Students and other University resources; and consultation for evaluating transfer timing. This course transfers to the UA as elective credit. See a P.C.C. counselor/advisor about enrolling in HDE 105.
