For students attending classes at Pima Community College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. Refer to The UA General Catalog or contact the Office of Academic Services (621-3336) for additional information. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may be applied to a bachelors degree program at The University of Arizona. Consult your advisor regarding course selection. SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the fourth semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA General Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Note: If students select Latin, the intermediate level of study may be completed upon transfer to The University of Arizona. MAJOR REQUIREMENTS -- The Interdisciplinary Studies degree is a special major which allows students to combine three disciplines (two of which must be in the Colleges of Humanities, Science, and/or Social and Behavioral Sciences) into a coherent and intellectually challenging program of academic concentration that is not otherwise available through the colleges' departmentally based majors and minors. Designing the major requires that the student (1) construct the program of study with the aid of an academic advisor from the Office of Academic Services and the three departmental advisors; (2) prepare a written proposal; and (3) have the final proposal and program accepted by the University College. PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO COMPLETE HDE 105, "TRANSFER STRATEGIES!" This course offers UA campus visits; meetings with UA staff members who represent the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, The Center for Transfer Students and other University resources; and consultation for evaluating transfer timing.
