| For students attending classes at the Maricopa County
Community Colleges and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following
course work is recommended. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work
may be applied to a bachelors degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer
to The UA General Catalog or contact the Department of Media Arts
(621-7352) for additional information. If you will not be completing this transfer guide,
see the "Acceptance
of Transfer Course Work to meet UA General Education Requirements."
All students, including transfer students, are required to have Advanced Standing for enrollment in all 300- or 400-level Department of Media Arts courses. Requirements for students to be admitted to Advanced Standing in M AR at The University of Arizona are:
Transfer students who would otherwise qualify for Media Arts Advanced Standing except that they do not meet the requirement of having taken a minimum of 12 regularly graded credits at The University of Arizona will be given provisional permission to enroll in upper-division Media Arts courses until they have completed this minimum. Thereafter, they must meet all of the regular provisions of the Media Arts Advanced Standing Policy.
SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the fourth semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA General Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Course work available at the Maricopa County Community Colleges includes the following. For Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese or Sign Language sequences, a placement test may be required to appropriately place students or to satisfy fourth semester proficiency.
Note: If students select Arabic, Chinese, Greek or Portuguese, the intermediate level of study may be completed upon transfer to the UA. MAJOR REQUIREMENTS -- The following MCCCD courses transfer as M AR Departmental Elective Credit: JRN 212; THE 205; WST 209; HUM 211AD, 212, 213; VPT 110, 206, 208, 213; TCM 101, 108, 131, 131AA, 145, 151, 180*, 180AA, 211, 215, 235, 241, 245, 260, 280. Six credits of these classes may be applied to the major.
