Bachelor of Arts in Media Arts For students attending classes at Pima Community College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. Refer to The UA General Catalog or contact the Department of Media Arts (621-7352) for additional information. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may be applied to a bachelors degree program at The University of Arizona. Consult your advisor regarding course selection. If you will not be completing this transfer guide, see the "Acceptance of Transfer Course Work to meet UA General Education Requirements." All students, including transfer students, are required to have Advanced Standing for enrollment in all 300- or 400-level Department of Media Arts courses. Requirements for students to be admitted to Advanced Standing in M AR at The University of Arizona are:
Transfer students who would otherwise qualify for Media Arts Advanced Standing except that they do not meet the requirement of having taken a minimum of 12 regularly graded credits at The University of Arizona will be given provisional permission to enroll in upper-division Media Arts courses until they have completed this minimum. Thereafter, they must meet all of the regular provisions of the Media Arts Advanced Standing Policy.
SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the fourth semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA General Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Note: If students select Portuguese, the intermediate level of study may be completed upon transfer to The University of Arizona. MAJOR REQUIREMENTS -- The following Pima Community College courses transfer as M AR credit: MEC 124, 125*, 127, 174, 175, 176, 177, 211, 215, 216, 225, 235, 271, 275, 276, 281, 285. Of the minimum of 35 credits required for the M AR BA degree, at least 18 must be in residence at The University of Arizona and at least 18 credits must be upper-division [300-499]. * Common course PLEASE NOTE: STUDENTS ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO COMPLETE STU 210, "TRANSFER STRATEGIES" This course offers UA campus visits; meetings with UA staff members who represent the Offices of Admissions, Financial Aid, The Center for Transfer Students and other University resources; and consultation for evaluating transfer timing.
