UA Yavapai College Transfer Guide 2002-03

Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a major
in Physiological Sciences

For students attending classes at Yavapai College and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. This major is intended for students wishing to pursue graduate study in the physiological sciences; or those planning to seek admission to professional schools in medicine, physical therapy, or other health related professions. Prior to applying for formal admission to this major, interested students should register in the School of Health Professions with a major in Pre-Physiological Sciences. Refer to The UA General Catalog or contact the Undergraduate Physiological Sciences Program (621-4850) for additional information. Transfer students are admitted first to the pre-major and then must apply for admission to the major.  Admission to the pre-major does not guarantee admission to the major. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Formal admission to the School of Health Professions is required of all undergraduate students. To apply for admission to the School of Health Professions for the major in Physiological Sciences, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:

  1. Completion of 56 units of credit applicable to a baccalaureate degree.
  2. A cumulative grade-point average of 2.25 (4.0 scale) or higher on all college course work completed.
  3. Satisfactory score on the Upper-division Writing Proficiency Exam or completion of ENGL 397a or 397b.

SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the fourth semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA General Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Course work available at Yavapai College includes the following:

  • FRE 101, 102, 201, 202
  • GER 101, 102
  • ITA 101, 102, 201, 202
  • LAT 101, 102
  • SPA 101, 102, 201, 202

Note: If students select American Sign Language, German, or Latin, the intermediate level of study may be completed upon transfer to The University of Arizona.
