Bachelor of Arts with a major in Communication

For students attending classes at the Maricopa County Community Colleges and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The UA General Catalog or contact the Office of Academic Services (621-3336) for additional information. SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the fourth semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA General Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. Course work available at the Maricopa County Community Colleges includes the following. For Arabic, Chinese, Hebrew, Japanese or Sign Language sequences, a placement test may be required to appropriately place students or to satisfy fourth semester proficiency.

Note: If students select Arabic, Chinese, Greek, Navajo, or Portuguese, the intermediate level of study may be completed upon transfer to the UA.

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS
Thirty-three credits of communication course work, of which fifteen credits must be upper-division, are required for the major. Students are advised to complete the equivalent Introduction to Communication and College Algebra to ensure a smooth transition to the University. Students will enter the Communication department as a pre-communication major until requirements listed in the 2002-03 General Catalog have been met.

Note: COM 207 transfers as UA COMM Elective. COM 222 is accepted as UA COMM325, however, it receives only lower-division credit and is designated as a COMM Elective.
