UA Maricopa Community College Transfer Guide 2003-04

Bachelor of Arts with a major in Latin American Studies

For students attending classes at the Maricopa County Community Colleges and preparing to transfer to The University of Arizona, the following course work is recommended. A maximum of 64 credits of community college course work may be applied to a bachelor’s degree program at The University of Arizona. Refer to The UA General Catalog or contact the Office of Academic Services (621-3336) for additional information. Freshman Composition--6 credits
Humanities and Fine Arts--6-9 credits
Biological and Physical Sciences--8 credits
Mathematics--3 credits
Social and Behavioral Sciences--6-9 credits
Other Requirement Options--0-6 credits

SECOND LANGUAGE -- This requirement may be met by demonstrating proficiency in a single second language at the fourth semester level. Refer to Examination Policies in The UA General Catalog for additional information on ways in which proficiency may be demonstrated. This requirement may be met by completing the language course work listed under major requirements.

MAJOR REQUIREMENTS

Spanish--14-16 credits

  • SPA 101 or 101AA or 103, 102 or 102AA or 104, 201 or 213, 202 or 214

or

Portuguese--8 credits

  • POR 101, 102

Completion of these elementary Portuguese courses will partially fulfill the major requirements and the second language requirement. The intermediate level language course work may be completed after transfer to The University of Arizona.
